Bell ( Danielle Moné Truitt ) tells Stabler that based on the crash, “Nobody thinks it’s remotely possible he could still be alive.” Stabler is understandably apprehensive because, as Law & Order: OC fans know, Wheatley is excellent at worming his way out of trouble.
- Without a confirmed corpse, Wheatley’s whereabouts are unknown.
- But OC fans shouldn’t expect a McDermott return any time soon.
- From the Season 3 premiere, it looks like the OC Unit is pursuing a different world of organized crime, with Wheatley finally out of it.

- Law & Order, the first of the bunch, landed a 1.0 rating in the key adults 18-49 demographic and 6.8 million total viewers through three days of measurement — the best performance of a Law & Order episode since Season 21 debuted in February.
- This marked a 36% increase in rating and a 20% increase in total viewership.
In the 9 p.m. timeslot, Live + 3 data for the Season 24 premiere of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit was even with the series’ four most recent episodes: an 18-49 rating of 1.4 with 7.7 total million viewers. Closing Law & Order night at 10 p.m., Organized Crime posted a 1.2 key rating, up 8% from its four most recent episodes, and 7.3 million total viewers, up 27%.

Why did law and order get canceled?
Why Was Law & Order: Los Angeles Canceled? – 
Law & Order: LA started strong when it debuted, with over 10 million viewers, but over the next few episodes, it experienced a sharp decline in ratings. So why didn’t viewers embrace the show? Part of the reason was the attempt to recapture the format of the original Law & Order,
- Comparisons were inevitable, especially since the original was canceled around the time Law & Order: LA debuted.
- Unfortunately, the spinoff didn’t live up to standard, giving viewers storylines that felt superficial and lacked the dramatic gravitas of its predecessors.
- And without the added benefit of a franchise crossover, the show failed to stand on its own.
Another issue came from the lack of character development. The detective characters were bland, and Skeet Ulrich’s low-key performance as Rex Winters didn’t help. Even when he was written out, the shakeup only made things worse. The shuffling of Ricardo Morales from the DA’s office back to detective and the removal of other characters, plus the introduction of new faces, made it difficult for viewers to care.
The early declining ratings led to a creative overhaul in January 2011, but it was too little, too late. Instead of developing the existing characters and giving them more depth and better plot lines, they went for the quick fix and jettisoned cast members, including Skeet Ulrich, Regina Hall and Megan Boone, bringing in new actors such as Terrence Howard and having Alana De La Garza reprise her Law & Order role as Junior D.D.A.
Connie Rubirosa. Coupled with a hiatus from December to April and a change in the schedule that left them without the strong SVU lead-in, the ratings took a huge drop. This upended any investment viewers still had, and they lost interest. To make things even more confusing, episodes shot before Skeet Ulrich’s character was killed were skipped to air the new format but then later aired out of order.

- A suspect has not yet been identified or detained, and the investigation is still ongoing.
- The safety of all New Yorkers is our top priority,” said Fabien Levy, press secretary at the NYC Mayor’s Office.
“No shooting is acceptable, which is why we are working every day to get illegal guns off New York City streets. The NYPD is actively investigating the fatal shooting of a crew member of Law and Order: Organized Crime early this morning. We offer our deepest condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time, and will work diligently to bring the suspect to justice and stem the tide of gun violence we are seeing.” According to ABC 7 in New York, the victim was a contracted employee for a company that reserves parking spots for TV and film shoots.
